Description of HPNA technology
HPNA technology enables operation at a throughput rate of up to 10 Mbps and within a range of up to 500 m for an arbitrary media topology (point-to-point, star, bus, or combined topology). Furthermore, even standard telephone distribution wire may be used as transmission media.
The HPNA-based approach to networking consists in transfer of access equipment and traffic concentration point to the building where the subscribers are located, whereas implementation of individual access (õDSL technology) implies deployment of access equipment and traffic concentration point at a communications center and connection of subscribers over the existing subscriber lines or dedicated lines. The idea to install hubs directly in residential buildings or in office compounds is more cost-efficient. Today this segment of the broadband subscriber access market is the fastest growing and the most innovative one.
